Adrian Mead spent 20 years working and travelling around the world as a hairdresser and nightclub bouncer before finding his way into the world of Film and Television.
He has since written and directed a number of short films Hushtown (2004) for CBBC Scotland, Family (2002) for STV’s NewFound Film slot, Over Land and Sea (2000) and a documentary Doing the Doors (1999) for Channel 4.
His first short film New York Diary was an entirely self-funded project shot on 35mm in New York City in 1996 with a crew from the UK and US. Adrian decided this would be as useful as spending 3 or 4 years in film school, and it probably was.
He has also developed a career as a drama writer with credits on Waking the Dead, The Last Detective, The Eustace Brothers, Paradise Heights and Where the Heart Is as well as many more scripts in various stages of development. Night People, his debut as a feature film director, won a BAFTA audience award in 2005. |
